Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 2026
1. About these terms

These Terms & Conditions apply to your use of the Coastal Media website and, where relevant, to training, events, consultancy and other services provided by Coastal Media.

Coastal Media Ltd
Company number: 14691324
Registered office: 165 The Broadway, London, SW19 1NE
Operating from: Trimingham, Norfolk
Email: matt@coastalmedia.biz

By using our website or booking a paid service or event with us, you agree to these terms.

2. Our services

Coastal Media provides training, events, consultancy and practical business and marketing support.

Our services include Small Business Clarity Days, Focus Sessions, Inspiration Sessions, workshops, community events and other training or consultancy that we may offer from time to time.

The format, duration, location, price and what is included will vary between services and events. We will provide the relevant information before you make a booking.

Some of our activities are free to attend.

Unless we specifically state otherwise, our services are intended for businesses and people attending in connection with their trade, business, craft or profession.

3. Bookings and payment

Where payment is required, the price will be made clear before you book.

A booking is confirmed once you have completed the relevant booking process and, where applicable, payment has been received or we have agreed alternative payment arrangements with you.

The price payable will be the price stated when you book.

Your booking is subject to our Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Some activities may be designed specifically for businesses we have previously worked with. This particularly applies to some Inspiration Sessions, where having a shared understanding of your business and our approach is an important part of the session.

We may therefore limit bookings where we reasonably believe a particular event or service would not be appropriate for the person booking.

If we decline or cancel a paid booking because an eligibility requirement has not been met, we will refund any payment made for that booking.

4. Changes and cancellations

We occasionally need to change the timing, content, venue or delivery arrangements for an event or service.

If we need to make a significant change, we will let affected attendees know as soon as reasonably possible.

If Coastal Media cancels a paid event or service, we will offer you the choice of transferring your booking to an appropriate alternative or receiving a refund of the amount you paid for the cancelled event or service.

Your rights when you cancel or need to rearrange a booking are set out in our Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy.

Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights that apply to you.

5. Advice and information

Our aim is to provide practical, informed advice that helps businesses make better decisions.

However, every business is different. Information, ideas and recommendations provided through our website, events, training or consultancy should be considered in the context of your own circumstances.

You remain responsible for decisions about your business and for deciding whether and how to implement any ideas or recommendations discussed with us.

Unless we explicitly agree otherwise, we do not provide legal, financial, tax, accounting or other regulated professional advice. Where appropriate, we may recommend that you seek specialist advice.

We cannot guarantee a particular commercial result from implementing our recommendations or attending our training.

6. Our events and community

We want Coastal Media events to be useful, welcoming places where people can learn, exchange ideas and make genuine connections.

We ask attendees to behave respectfully towards other participants, our team, our venues and any guest speakers.

Our events are not intended to provide an audience for unsolicited selling or pitching.

Unless agreed with us in advance, attendees must not use an event primarily to promote or sell products or services to other attendees, solicit clients, or obtain Coastal Media materials or content for reproduction or use in their own commercial training, consultancy or similar services.

This does not prevent attendees from talking about what they do, making connections, collaborating or choosing to work together afterwards. Those things are a valuable part of bringing businesses together.

We reserve the right to refuse admission, cancel a booking, ask someone to leave an event or restrict attendance at future events where we reasonably believe their behaviour is seriously disruptive, inappropriate, harmful to other attendees or inconsistent with the purpose of the event.

Where reasonably possible, we will explain our concerns before taking such action.

7. Our training materials and intellectual property

Unless we say otherwise, Coastal Media owns or has permission to use the intellectual property in the materials we create and provide.

This includes our website content and materials such as presentations, workbooks, worksheets, templates, exercises, graphics, videos and other training resources.

We want you to use what you learn.

You are welcome to use our materials and the ideas you develop through our sessions for the purposes of your own business.

However, unless we have given you written permission, you must not:

  • sell or commercially distribute our materials;

  • publish or make our materials publicly available;

  • reproduce or distribute substantial parts of our workbooks, presentations, exercises or other resources;

  • remove our branding and present our materials as your own; or

  • use our materials to deliver training, consultancy or similar commercial services to other people or businesses.

Nothing in these terms is intended to prevent you from using your own knowledge, experience or skills simply because a subject has also been discussed at a Coastal Media event.

8. Confidentiality and sharing in sessions

Our sessions often involve open discussion about businesses, ideas and challenges.

We encourage attendees to be considerate about information other participants choose to share and not to disclose obviously confidential or commercially sensitive information outside the session without permission.

However, unless we have entered into a specific confidentiality agreement with you, group events should not be treated as confidential environments. You should therefore use your judgement before sharing commercially sensitive, personal or confidential information.

Where we work with you individually, we will treat information you share with us responsibly and will not knowingly disclose confidential information about your business to another client or use it for an unrelated purpose, except where you have agreed to this, where disclosure is reasonably necessary to provide the service, or where we are required to do so by law.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Photography and recording

We may occasionally take photographs or video at Coastal Media events for use in our communications, website or social media.

Where photography or filming is planned, we will make reasonable efforts to let attendees know.

If you would prefer not to appear in photographs or video, please tell us and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate this.

Attendees must not make substantial audio or video recordings of our training or presentations without our permission.

Further information about how we use photographs and video containing personal information is available in our Privacy Policy.

10. Accessibility, dietary requirements and individual needs

We want our events to be as accessible and welcoming as reasonably possible.

If you have an accessibility requirement, dietary requirement or another need that may affect your participation, please let us know as early as possible before the event.

We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate individual requirements, although what we can provide may depend on the venue, event and amount of notice given.

11. Website use

The content on our website is provided for general information about Coastal Media, our services and subjects relevant to small businesses.

We take reasonable care to keep information accurate and useful, but website content may change and should not be treated as professional advice specific to your circumstances.

Unless otherwise stated, Coastal Media owns or has permission to use the intellectual property rights in the content published on this website.

You may view and use the website for your own personal or business purposes.

You must not, without our permission, reproduce, republish, sell or commercially exploit substantial parts of our website content.

You must not deliberately misuse our website, interfere with its operation, introduce malicious software or use automated methods to extract substantial amounts of content without our permission.

12. Links to other websites and services

Our website and training materials may include links to websites, tools, services or information provided by other organisations.

We include these because we think they may be useful, but we do not control third-party websites or services and are not responsible for their availability, content, terms, security or privacy practices.

A link or recommendation does not necessarily constitute an endorsement, partnership or guarantee.

You should satisfy yourself that any third-party product or service is appropriate for your business before purchasing or relying on it.

13. Liability

We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful for us to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Subject to the above and to the extent permitted by law, Coastal Media will not be responsible for indirect or consequential business losses arising from decisions you make based on our training, consultancy, events or website content.

We do not guarantee that using our services, following a recommendation or attending an event will result in increased sales, enquiries, profit, website traffic, search visibility or any other particular commercial outcome.

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14. Personal information

How we collect, use and protect personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Where you provide information to us when booking an event, contacting us or using our services, we will handle that information in accordance with that policy and applicable data protection law.

In some circumstances, personal information may be shared with organisations we work with, including Norfolk Uncovered Ltd, as explained in our Privacy Policy.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions occasionally to reflect changes to our services, website or legal obligations.

The latest version will always be published on our website with the date it was last updated.

Changes will not retrospectively alter the terms of a booking or agreement already made unless we agree the change with you or the change is required by law.

16. If part of these terms is unenforceable

If any part of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction in relation to disputes, subject to any rights that applicable law gives you to bring proceedings elsewhere.
